Gameplay People may remember the last game version of Spiderman to come out a year or so ago. That game had a good feel to it but still lack a lot. For one thing most levels seemed as if you had to accomplish a task instead of actually playing a game. It really takes away from the game if you are just concentrating on completing certain things and not enjoying the atmosphere. Now comes Spiderman: The Movie. The previous game was a good effort but can they improve on it with this one? With a new storyline and new features will this game have enough webbing to stick around? Graphics Graphics in this game are amazing. From the beautifully rendered characters (Spiderman in this game almost looks as good as the one in the movie), to spinning webs and the huge city, everything is done very nicely. Cut scenes start and end every level creating the storyline, which moves the game along. One of the best aspects of the game is when Spidey is swinging away through the city. It really puts you in his shoes and gets you into character. The main enemies, which unfortunately are too few, are done up nicely as well. Whether you’re being blasted by the Shocker or bombarded with explosive pumpkins from the Goblin it’s all visually spectacular. Difficulty There are difficulty levels ranging from easy to superhero to start off the game. Some levels were difficult even on the easiest setting. Levels range from timed missions to a straight out fight to sneaking around. I guess no level is exactly the same. Most levels and enemies are pretty easy to figure out but some still were too hard even on the easy setting. It takes time but most levels are beatable. Arial combat is something new in this game and is pretty tricky to master. Thank goodness there is training for almost every aspect of the game on how to be a better Spiderman.

Overall Although I would say this game is an improvement on the last version, it still has its fair share of problems. One thing I couldn’t understand with this game or the last one was why they do not give you the real Spiderman. I mean it’s great how you swing through the city, stick to walls and spin your webs which makes you really feel like the character but then when you start to walk around it all slows down. You just don’t get the quick feeling you should. He should be a lot faster. And what about his strength? Everyone knows he has superhuman strength and if you don’t, now you do. Why then does it take him three or more hits to take down a common thug? Another problem with the game was length. Some levels just ended way too quickly and there weren’t too many to begin with. The biggest complaint would probably be the camera. For some reason or another it just never feels right. You’d also like to see more main enemies as Spidey has plenty to choose from. Overall
though if you are a fan of Spiderman in general this game should
satisfy. Some aspects of
the game really put you in character and there are enough additions and
improvements to make this game worthwhile.
If you every wondered what it would be like to be Spidey, this is
the closest you’ll ever get, even though you’ll feel you want to do
more. But then again as
Aunt May says, you’re not Superman.
